PAPER EPHEMERA |
HOW IT BEGAN I started saving tickets from school productions in the late 1950's and added to them as I saw professional shows at Doncaster and on holiday at Great Yarmouth. Then I began to include dance tickets, entrance tickets, invitations, clothes labels, restaurant bills and many other scraps of paper that any sensible person would throw away! They are stored in the 17 albums (with self-adhesive plastic-covered pages) shown in the photograph on the right. |
Clockwise from above: school G&S productions and church fairs; late 50's and early 60's shows; dance tickets from Doncaster Baths Ballroom ('61 and '62); various ephemera from a holiday in Devon (1990's); London and the Dome (1-1-00); tickets from around the world in 2006 including Sydney Opera House, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Egyptian Pyramids, Greecian Temples, Muir Woods (San Francisco), Hawaii; clothing labels; tickets from Jan to Mar 2009. |
