CUTTINGS & SCRAPBOOKS |
HOW IT BEGAN My father made a scrapbook in the 1930's full of cuttings about ships. His father and mother also had scrapbooks related to their interests. I now possess all three (left). I used to cut out and keep articles from comics in the 1950's and still have them all (right). I have continued to save newspaper articles in box files that now fill a whole bookcase (right). In the 50's/60's I compiled a space scrapbook with cuttings from the first satellite launch to the moon landing. Since then I've kept scrapbooks on amateur theatre(6), local history(4) the millennium dome(3), and the poll tax (below). |
The box files contain cuttings on the following subjects: Antiques; Architecture; British Isles; Consumerism; Design; DIY; Education; Fine Art; Gardening; History; Inventions & Machines Mathematics; Photography; Politics; Ships,Planes & Trains; Theatre; World Geography. |
